DCA-300SSK (2nd / 3rd Generation) Suffix Confusion

Summary:
DCA-300SSK3 units exist on paper only and are actually DCA-300SSK2 machines; all major components are identical because these are actually the exact same model.

Additional Information:
Initial production of the DCA-300SSK generator started without any added suffix in the model designation (All Denyo models start this way), the SSK series replaces the 300SPK and the earlier DCA-275SPK that preceded it.

According to information from MQ Power; Denyo does not change the model suffix until or unless there has been a change to the engine and or the A.C. alternator; therefore the addition of a "2" as a suffix to the model designation came about as a result of making an engine change from the Komatsu SA6D125E-2 to the SAA6D125E-2 engine. "The former being (Liquid to Air Aftercooled) and the latter being (Air to Air Aftercooled)"

Although this seems like a minor change to the base 11.0L engine, Komatsu made other changes to optimize the engine which resulted in a change in the engine model number to reflect the fact that it is now an EPA Tier 2 compliant engine.

Cumulative changes from initial production and forward which include the Tier 2 compliant engine truly make the DCA-300SSK2 and different generator package on many levels as it has evolved from key ignition start and mechanical engine governing system to electronic isochronous governing with auto-start and numerous other changes to the base/skid and enclosure... other notable changes include moving from the original Terasaki circuit breaker to the U.L. approved main circuit breaker by ABB.

The DCA-300SSK series is now in its third generation of evolution currently designated as a DCA-300SSK4 and can be positively identified by the U.S.E.P.A. Tier3 compliant engine that is uses, (Komatsu SAA6D125E-5) many of the previous evolutionary changes have been carried over from the prior design with the exception of the Barber Colman and later Woodward electronic governing system which has now been completely replaced by a fully integrated electronic engine control system with cooled EGR and Denso high pressure common rail fuel injection system to complete the overall system by Komatsu.
